Bacteriostatic water is sterile, non-pyrogenic water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol. It is used exclusively as a diluent to dissolve or dilute injectable medications for intravenous, intramuscular, or subcutaneous use. The preservative inhibits bacterial growth, allowing the multi-dose vial to be safely re-entered multiple times.

Packaging: Typically supplied in multiple-dose vials (commonly 10 mL or 30 mL).
Expiration: Once a vial is opened, it should be discarded after 28 days to prevent contamination and degradation of the solution.
